The good news is without a doubt YES! No matter what you may have done in your life nothing can create a permanent gap between you and God except for denial of the Holy Spirit. Matt 12:31.32- “Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.” “And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life,” is probably the most quoted verse in the bible. But the next two verses 17.18, “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him,” And “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God,” are just as important.
A lot of people have the idea that God is this tyrant who watches over them waiting to punish them for every sin they may commit. While the Bible is filled with stories of God’s wrath on people when they refused to follow His instructions He never hates the person instead He hates the sin that they are committing. As a loving Heavenly Father He wants only what’s best for you.
With all the recent mass shootings that are happening in the U.S. people are asking where’s God and why does He let such bad things happen? I can’t give you a definitive answer. I know though that God never promised that we would know the reason behind why every bad thing happens. One point I know related to that question though is that we are not robots that are programmed, God has given each of us , ‘free will’ which lets people make both good and bad and sometimes tragic choices in their lives.
So if someone tells you that God hates you because of sins that you have committed and that’s why terrible things are happening in your life don’t believe them. God loves you and wants only the best for you, sometimes though that includes going through some rough times to come out stronger on the other end of it.
